The team made the announcement just 30 minutes before tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Despite starting on a pitch count to protect his body, James has played in 23 out of the Lakers’ 25 games this season and currently boasts an average of 25.3 points-per-game. The Lakers have a 14-10 record so far this season. Meanwhile, Wembanyama’s Spurs are struggling with a 3-19 record, and the young star is averaging 18.8 points per game and facing intense scrutiny as he adapts to the NBA.

Victor Wembanyama made an appearance in the game, but unfortunately, he didn’t get to face off against the greatest basketball player of all time. The team they are up against has been experiencing a losing streak for a total of 16 games, making it unlikely that they will be able to break it with the Lakers in town on Wednesday. The Lakers have recently won the NBA In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas after their victory against the Indiana Pacers, making them the first team to win the trophy. LeBron James played against the Mavericks on Tuesday, but he needs time to recover from his injury and won’t be joining the team for Wednesday’s game. Following two games in San Antonio, the Lakers will return to LA to host the impressive New York Knicks, then proceed to travel to Chicago.
