This was as good a response as LA could’ve had.
Following a 44-point embarrassment at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night, your Los Angeles Lakers have responded strong, defeating the Detroit Pistons 133-107 on the road.
This was The D’Angelo Russell Game, as the Ohio State product put up an unbelievable 35 points and nine assists on 13-of-17 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from behind the arc.
Anthony Davis tagged on a signature 28-point, 16-rebound, 3-block performance, which LeBron James complemented with a 25-point, 8-rebound outing.
LA clicked on all cylinders, all game, as they had arguably their best first quarter all season.
Leading by 14 after the first 12 minutes, it was clear that this was a different game for LA, and whether it was the ease of the matchup (Detroit was 2-15 heading into tonight), the desire for retribution after their blowout loss on Monday, or that the team is beginning to develop more chemistry, this was a good win with little to complain about.

This was no doubt arguably LA’s most impressive win of the season, so it’s something to be happy about ahead of a really, really difficult road matchup with the 11-6 Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.
In the second game of a back-to-back, featuring nearly cross-country travel, taking on a top-tier team that plays with great pace, is bound to be a major challenge.
We’ll see how the Lakers come out, but expect a significantly bumpier road than what we witnessed today.
