Heartwarming Rescue: Wild Baby Elephant Freed After 12 Hours Trapped in Pit, Joyously Reunited with Mother.

A wild baby elephant has been reunited with its mother in China after it was trapped in a pit and saved by authorities in China.

The calf accidentally fell into a hole in the ground after wandering into a village in southwestern China’s Yunnan Province.

After being stuck for 12 hours, the little Asian elephant was finally lifted out of the pit by a team of officers before returning to its herd.

The calf accidentally fell into a hole in the ground after wandering into a village in southwestern China’s Yunnan Province on October 17. It was successfully rescued the next morning.

The incident occurred in the Simao district of Pu’er city on the evening of October 17, according to an official statement.

The area is home to nearly 120 wild Asian elephants since the first one settled there in 1993, the officials said.

A patrol officer, who was responsible for monitoring the local elephants’ activities, reported to the authorities after spotting the mother elephant and her calf playing and looking for food in a village on October 17.

Later that night, the government was alerted by a farmer who found the baby elephant trapped in a pit at their home.

The animals had entered the house to look for food before the calf accidentally fell into the hole. The rest of the herd left without noticing what happened. A team of rescuers, including police officers and forest keepers, immediately arrived on the scene to save the animal.

Considering the depth of the pit and the residents’ safety, the officials decided to look after the baby elephant and conduct the rescue the next morning. The picture shows the local officials with the baby elephant after it had been lifted out of the pit in Pu’er on October 18

‘We were using torches and saw the baby elephant,’ one of them told state media Xinhua News.

Considering the depth of the pit and the residents’ safety, the officials decided to look after the baby elephant and conduct the rescue the next morning.

After being trapped for 12 hours, the calf was finally lifted out of the hole by its saviors who then guided the animal back to its mother. An officer is seen guiding the elephant calf.
